The MEA SCORE is based on aggregated and anonymized responses gathered from patients using the DrugStars app where they are asked to regularly answer the MEA Questionnaire (see below) as well as patients in research groups, and patients using

The MEA SCORE is calculated as follows (the colours refer to the patient’s responses to the individual questions).

Green responses = Positive
Gray responses = Neutral
Pink responses = Negative

As the goal within healthcare is toward positive responses – both neutral and negative responses are considered detractors when calculating the final MEA SCORE.

The MEA SCORE is simply calculating a number between -100 and +100, very much like the popular Net Promotor Score (NPS) which is actively used across hundreds of other industries.


The MEA INDEX is a collection of these MEA SCORES allowing us to compare how individual products are perceived by patients at scale. The MEA INDEX documents how well a product is performing in comparison to others in terms of aggregated patient reported medicine experiences and attitudes (MEA).
